Gone forever….

I’m feeling so sad today that sometimes things are gone forever and there’s no replacement.
My husband lost his wedding ring during one of his business trip in Beijing earlier this year. He can’t even remember any details of the missing ring (when or where) and obviously when we checked with the hotel upon his return from his trip, the ring was not found.
It’s less than two years since our wedding in June 2008. I can’t believe how careless my hubby was when he told me he lost the ring. At first I thought it was just a joke before it hit me that he was confessing the truth! :(  I’ve always thought that the wedding ring is a sacred memory of the day we became “man & wife” and to hold this ring till death do us apart ….
Exchanging Rings
With a mission in mind to replace the missing ring, I had plan to reorder the same ring from THE CARAT CLUB – the jeweller that we customised his ring. It was a tough search for his wedding ring during our wedding preparation as he does not like wearing jewellery and has not found any comfortable fit that he likes! Even though it was just a simple plain band! So imagine the shopping frenzy we went through two years ago!!!
 HIS RING
Luckily I kept the receipt, and I was hoping to get the same ring for his birthday next month. Guess what?! He proposed to me on his birthday in 2007! What better occasion to give him the wedding ring again! :)
So I called THE CARAT CLUB  to arrange a replacement ring for him. And to my disappointment …. here are THE BAD NEWS!!!!!!
THE CARAT CLUB is no longer in operation. They closed all outlets in Malaysia and Singapore. Apparently the founder and his wife divorce and they decided to split the business, by naming it the FRANK JEWELRY.
The FRANK JEWELRY staff, Corrine was very helpful! I told her the circumstances about my intention to have the ring replace for my hubby, and she helped me to check the record of my purchase when it was still THE CARAT CLUB. After waiting for 1.5 hours, Corrine returned my call with some bad news….  The ring was handcrafted in Italy, and since then they discontinued the design. Even in their old record, that particular ring design was not photographed. Therefore existing craftsmen could not reproduce that design. As it was also imported from Italy, the local craftsmen will not be able to achieve the same ring. Corrine also regret to tell me that she do not have the name or brand of Italian manufacturer  :( :( :(
There will never be another replacement. Just like someone who lost their love ones or pets. Sometimes things are gone forever, and the saying goes … “money can’t buy everything” !
I told my husband about this story … and he reassure me with these words;
“ The marriage to me is something from the heart,
and I'll always love you.”

  1. Our wedding bands are indeed a symbol of eternal love but unfortunately many couples still own their rings but not each other. You have a wonderful husband who loves you and yes, that certainly is worth more than any gold & rubies ;)
