Sophia contracted Strep-B infection from me :( After precautionary measure of antibiotic administered before labour started, Sophia unfortunately couldn’t avoid it. She has been placed under close observation in the Special Care Unit and administered with antibiotic and put on drips. I was so sad to hear about Sophia’s condition. Just praying hard that she will be alright soon.
It is very heart breaking for a new mother to see her newborn baby in such medical condition. I wished I knew better of other option to avoid this possible chances of 1% contracting GBS so that Sophia won’t suffer so much discomfort and pain in her early days of fragile life.
By having caesarean section, baby will not go through the birth canal that may possible cause the infection from mother to child. I never thought of this option, thinking that the risk of 1-2% possibility was slim and I wanted natural birth. Against all odds, I fell into the unlucky percentage. Such chances … ;(
