It’s been exactly 3 months since our first visit to Sekinchan, a fishing village with vast paddy fields!
Today we all set off with a mission to buy home some fresh fish, prawns and my favourite “Golden Pillow” – fried dried bananas!
We left the house at about 10.30am, with empty stomach. I ate some of my mom’s chocolate muffins on our drive there. We decided to stop over in Kuala Selangor for some seafood before reaching our destination. We prefer the food served in Kuala Selangor than Sekinchan.
This was the front signage of the restaurant we patron, and the food was not bad.
At least their deep fried crayfish was crunchy with a tint of saltiness from the salted egg yolk paste ;) We all also loved the steam fish, cooked like tom yum soup with some sourish spicy flavour! The sweet sour crabs were yummy as well! You may find some “har mai” small prawns in the gravy! :)
Sophia has also enjoyed the fish and her self feeding plain rice while we had our lunch. After we were done, Sophia left a huge mess of littering rice all over the floor! ( –__- )After lunch, we continued our journey to Sekinchan and was terribly disappointed that fishermen has not return to shore, and there won’t be any fishes today. There was only one boat that came back, and it’s mostly small catches and stingrays. We didn’t came at the right day, it was just plain luck.
Follows on with another disappointment, the seller for the Golden Pillow told me no bananas to make them. So nothing for sale. :( Darn!
So we headed to Site A to buy some rice and photo taking!

This time around, the paddy fields are green and flowering!! Great for photo shoot and it’s been a cloudy day for us too! Not too hot for outdoor especially with young baby! :)
Anyways after the shoot, I didn’t want to go home without the Golden Pillow. I stopped by another restaurant in Site B, and bought some similar oven baked bananas home. Oh well, we ate 2 packets on our drive home! It taste as good as the famous Golden Pillow!!
As for the fishes, I drove my mom back to Kuala Selangor to try our luck if the fishermen there has any to sell at the market. While my mom and god dad went down to the market … My sis, Sophia and I took a nap in the car. Too exhausted from the hunting and driving the whole day! I needed the power nap before driving another 1.5 hours back home!
Overall, our weekend went well. My mom bought her fish and prawns from Kuala Selangor instead of Sekinchan, while I found alternative to fulfil my fried bananas cravings!
